EU directive
WEEE Directive
2012/19/EU
What it covers
WEEE makes producers responsible for the end-of-life collection and recycling of electrical equipment. Whoever first places the product on the market of an EU country registers with that country's producer register, reports quantities and finances collection, usually through a compliance scheme. Products carry the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol. Registration is national, so a brand selling in several countries registers in each one.
