Neutrality Policy

What payment to OpenAxia buys, and what it never buys.

Version 1.0 · effective 2026-10-09

Why we publish this

OpenAxia is a neutral, source-linked catalog of blind, shutter, awning and door motors and their controls. Installers, engineers, buyers and AI assistants use it to find out what exists, what can replace what, and who makes it. That only works if you can trust that what you see was not bought.

If brands pay us for listings or tools, we want to be clear about what that money buys and, more importantly, what it never buys. Writing the rules down makes them checkable: by you, by the brands we list, and by us.

These rules apply to every page, tool, API response and data feed we publish.

The six rules

1. Payment never influences rankings or comparisons

No payment changes a published value, a completeness score, a sort order, a filter result, a search ranking, a comparison or a badge. Lists are ordered by the same published criteria for every brand. We do not sell “Verified”, “Recommended” or similar badges, and we do not remove accurate public facts because a brand dislikes them.

2. Paid placements are always labelled and kept out of results

If we offer paid placements, each one is labelled Sponsored and appears only outside result areas, for example in an event sidebar or a newsletter slot. A paid placement will never appear inside a specification table, a product comparison, a replacement result or a search result list.

Where a brand has a paid account, its brand page shows that status (for example “Claimed · Pro”), when brand claim tiers are available.

3. Corrections are handled identically for paying and non-paying brands

Every correction request goes through the same process: an editor checks it against the source, and adopted changes appear in our public corrections log with the value before and after. A paying brand may get a faster reply, but never a different standard of evidence.

When paid tiers are available, we will measure this. Our audit metric will be the correction acceptance rate for paying brands compared with non-paying brands. These rates must not differ significantly. If paying brands' corrections are accepted noticeably more often, we treat that as a sign that revenue is influencing data, stop, and investigate. We will publish this comparison in an annual neutrality report, with the share of revenue from each business line and the categories of paid requests we declined, starting twelve months after paid tiers launch.

4. No affiliate or referral commissions, ever

We do not earn commissions on sales, anywhere: not in the replacement finder, not on product pages, not in comparisons, not in tools, not in the API. We do not place affiliate links or tracked purchase links, and we do not take a cut of transactions. If we ever told you which motor to buy, you would have no way to know whether we were paid to say it. So we never are.

Direct evidence links are decided only by the type of source: official registers, standards bodies, government and association statistics, and a manufacturer's own documents on its reviewed domains. This treatment cannot be bought, traded or requested. Links to official websites, shops, contacts and event registration stay nofollow through /go/.

5. Data collection rules apply equally to everyone

We collect public information under the same rules for every company, whether or not it is a customer: we respect robots.txt, we do not bypass logins, dealer portals or bot protection, and we do not publish or reprint manufacturer manuals on our public pages.

We will never disable robots.txt compliance for the site of a customer or a prospective customer. Every robots.txt exception, for any site, is recorded and available on request.

6. Brand-provided content is marked and kept separate

When brand claims are available, a brand can add its own announcements, descriptions and profile content. That content is always labelled as brand-provided, reviewed by a person before it is published, and kept visually separate from the data we verify ourselves. A brand can arrange its own profile sections, but it can never hide or edit our fact and source sections, and it can never edit another company's profile.

What paying customers do get

Paying customers will buy tools and control over their own presence, not influence over our data. Depending on the plan, and as each feature becomes available, this includes:

  • identity verification and an authorised logo on their brand page;
  • a direct channel for corrections and takedown requests, with a faster response time (same evidence standard);
  • a gap list showing what we have not yet found about their products, and monthly statistics such as views and comparisons;
  • brand-provided announcements and profile content, labelled as such;
  • commercial API access and data feeds, which carry the same values everyone else sees.

Any paying customer will agree in writing that payment does not change data or rankings.

How to report a violation

If you believe we have broken any of these rules, for example a paid placement inside results, a ranking that looks bought, or brand content shown as our own, please tell us through the neutrality report form. You do not need an account, and we never publish who sent a report. We check every report and record what we found.

Versioning and change log

Any change to this policy is dated and listed below, and the previous version stays available. We will not weaken rules 1 to 6 without publishing the change and the reason at least 30 days before it takes effect.
