UK statutory instrument

UKCA marking (Great Britain)

SI 2017/1206; SI 2016/1091; SI 2016/1101; SI 2008/1597

What it covers

Great Britain kept the EU product rules in its own regulations and introduced the UKCA marking from 1 January 2021. For motors, remotes and door operators the relevant regulations are the radio equipment, EMC, electrical equipment safety and machinery regulations. GOV.UK guidance (updated 21 August 2026) states that Great Britain continues to recognise the CE marking, alongside or in place of UKCA, under SI 2024/696 and gives no end date; the GOV.UK sector table (31 March 2026) lists UKCA or CE for radio equipment, EMC, electrical equipment safety and machinery. Northern Ireland follows EU rules.
